Mr. Mendel was named Interim President and Chief Executive Officer in February 2020. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in February 2019 and previously served as Chief Financial Officer since joining GenMark in May 2014. Mr. Mendel has over 25 years of financial and operational leadership experience and has held various leadership positions with The Active Network and GE Healthcare. Mr. Mendel earned a B.S. in finance from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management
Mr. Ek has served as Chief Financial Officer since February 2019. Previously, Mr. Ek served as GenMark’s VP of Finance & Accounting and Controller from November 2013 until his appointment as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining GenMark, Mr. Ek served as Vice President and International Controller at Affymetrix and Corporate Controller at eBioscience, Inc. Mr. Ek also worked at Ernst & Young LLP, most recently as Senior Manager. Mr. Ek obtained his Certified Public Accounting license (currently inactive) after earning a B.S. in finance from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
Mr. Gleeson serves as Senior Vice President, Corporate Accounts. He was previously the Senior Vice President of North American Commercial Operations and has held various commercial sales roles within the company since joining in November 2009. Mr. Gleeson has over 15 years of sales leadership experience and has held roles with SYBASE, GuardianEdge, BEA Systems, and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Mr. Gleeson holds a B.S. degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from Babson College in Massachusetts.
Mr. Mitchell has served as Senior Vice President, Operations and has held various roles with the company since joining in November 2016. Mr. Mitchell has over 20 years of operational strategy, product development, and operations management experience, and has held various leadership positions with Rainin Instruments, Alere, Inverness Medical, and Chiron Diagnostics. Mr. Mitchell earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
Mr. Stier serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the company and has held various legal affairs roles with the company since joining in November 2012. Mr. Stier has over 15 years of legal management experience and has held roles with Hologic, Gen-Probe, and Latham & Watkins LLP. Mr. Stier received a B.A. in Behavioral Science and Law from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a J.D. with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
